These are the periods in which staffing levels could become thin due to winding days and long weekends:

April 29 to May 3, as the national holiday falls on a Wednesday
May 9 and 10 due to Ascension Day
May 30 and 31 due to Corpus Christi
August 15 and 16 due to Assumption Day
December 23 to 27 due to the Christmas holiday

Overlaps with school vacations

Employees with school-age children will probably want to plan their vacation around the school vacations. You should keep these periods in mind:

The week from January 1 to 5 still falls during the 2023 Christmas vacations.
As usual, the summer vacations of all federal states overlap with Assumption Day.
The national holiday, which falls on a Saturday this year, is immediately followed by the fall vacations. These end on October 31 and thus directly follow All Saints' Day.
As usual, the Christmas vacations start on December 24. However, as this falls on a Tuesday, it is to be expected that many vacation days will be submitted on the 23rd.
